Beginner Swim Lessons

Elizabeth Slattery
Elizabeth has been teaching children and adults to swim for over 14 years as the owner of Miss Anna's Swim School.  Since 2003, she has taught more than 3,200 children through group and private lessons and built Miss Anna's Swim School into the premier program for children's swim training.  She is now offering her successful training program to Sequoia members and their families.  All swim lessons will be private and scheduled directly through Elizabeth.  Elizabeth and her family have been long-term, active Sequoia members.  Her husband, Steve, is a former board member.  Their daughters, Katie and Georgia, were active members of the Sequoia swim team from elementary age through high school.  Georgia has also been a diver and Assistant Dive Coach for Sequoia for three years.  Their son, Sam, enjoys tennis at Sequoia, as well as, work the front desk greeting the members as they arrive.
Macie Garrett or 615-390-4783
Macie swam competitively for Nashville Aquatic Club, Harpeth Hall, and the University of Texas. In that time she was an All-American, Big XII Champion, national qualifier, and competed in both the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Trials. After college she moved to Charlotte, NC as a part of the Teach for America program and taught Kindergarten for 3 years. In the summers she was the head coach for Charlotte Swim and Racquet Club, a club very similar to Sequoia. She also did private lessons in her time with the team. She has coached for USA swimming year round clubs, Badfish Aquatics and Capital of Texas Aquatics, and this year coached for the Harpeth Hall swim team. She is currently a Kindergarten teacher at East End Preparatory in East Nashville.
Laura Roberts or 615-504-6601
Laura grew up in Brentwood and has spent over 11 years teaching private and group swim lessons at the Brentwood YMCA.  Her students have ranged from infants and toddlers to adults with no prior swim knowledge, even including one professional athlete!  While at the YMCA, Laura has worn many hats teaching children with needs ranging from autism and down syndrome, to paraplegia and ADHD.  She spent a summer as an assistant swim team coach, as well as, overseeing the swim lesson program as the Aquatics Coordinator for a time.  Laura has a natural love for the water and helping students reach whichever swim goal they are trying to obtain.  Whether it's brushing up on a stroke, learning to swim for the first time or simply getting more comfortable in the water, she is ready to help!
Hope this gets your swimming needs covered!
